Karen Rognhild Holcomb

October 20, 1946 – January 17, 2011

      Karen Rognhild Holcomb, passed away on Monday, January 17, 2011 at her home on Bainbridge Island, Washington. She was born on October 20, 1946 in Seattle, WA to Per and Bjorg Sundnes . She was 64 years of age. 

      Karen received her Bachelors degree at Scripps College and was a homemaker and artist. She received several international awards for her art. She was a member of Phi Beta Kappa. Karen was an intelligent and beautiful lady and was very proud of her Norwegian heritage. She was a wonderful partner to her husband and will be missed by her family and friends.

      She is survived by her husband J. Byron Holcomb of Bainbridge Island, children; Nels Langbauer of Santa Cruz, CA, Peter Holcomb of Bainbridge Island,  John Holcomb of Atlanta, GA,  Matt Holcomb of Fredrick, MD, sister Ruth Winter (Mike) of Seattle, WA, brother Harold Sundnes of Auburn, WA, nephew Peter John Sundnes of Renton, WA, grand-nephews Jack Sundnes and Henry Sundnes of Renton, WA, also his niece Christina Winter of New York, NY and nephew Matthew Winter of Seattle, WA. There are seven grandchildren.
