Norris Roswell Countryman
August 12, 1925 – March 13, 2011
Norris Countryman, died peacefully at his home on Bainbridge Island March 13th. He was 85.
He was born in Seattle, WA. He lived in Yakima during his early years and graduated from Selah High School. He was a tail gunner in the USAAF during World War II and was a veteran of the Korean Conflict. He held several positions during his lifetime, He managed 16 service stations for Binger Oil Co. in the 50’s and 60’s, drove for Matthew’s Candy Co. He owned and operated North City Texaco, and was a driver salesman for Ed Hume Seed Co.
He had been a member of the Eagles and the Elks, and a member of the American Legion at the time of his death.
He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Sonja, children Norma Lewis, Norris Countryman II, Royce and Steve Countryman, Kimberly White, Susan Fore, Dorothy Buck, Katie Countryman; and step-children Milton Rants, Mona Floyd, John Poelzer, Lorie Britton, Michael and Joseph Poelzer; 31 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. Services were held on March 21st.
