Donald Chapman died on March 23 at Virginia Mason Medical Center in Seattle. He was 82.
Donald was born on June 7, 1927, in Honolulu, Hawaii. He practiced architecture as a principal since 1956, working all over the world.
He is survived by his wife Carol Hartley Chapman; daughters Denice Kelly and husband John; grandchildren Michael and Jennifer, Elizabeth Lucarelli (Don), and Malia and Christine; brother Robert and (Cara), Joe Hartley, Jeff Hartley and their families.
Family and friends are invited to attend a Celebration of Life at 2 p.m. April 10 at the family residence on Bainbridge Island, followed by a reception until 5 p.m. His ashes will be scattered in Hawaii at a later date. Memorial donations can be made to Helpline House, The University of Hawaii Foundation School of Architecture or The Ernest H. Hara FAIA Distinguished Service Award – University of Hawaii.
