Jimmie Travis Bennett

Former Bainbridge Island resident Jimmie Travis Bennett, 68, of Loon Lake, Wash., died Jan. 7 at Holy Family Hospital in Spokane.
He was born June 7, 1936, in Lawtey, Fla. He spent most of his life in Alaska, where he worked for the city of Anchorage fire department. He retired from the City of Bainbridge Island’s Department of Public Works in 2000.
He is survived by his wife, Lorraine Bennett, of Loon Lake; step-daughters Patricia Henry of Hailey, Idaho, and Teresa Graves of Coeur d’Alene, Idaho; brother Avery Bennett of Nebraska and Charles Bennett of Georgia; sisters Esther Bennett of California and Dee DeMontollin of North Carolina; and two grandchildren.
He was cremated, and no services are planned. Memorials can be made to the American Cancer Society.
Arrangements are under the direction of Schanzenbach Funeral Home, Chewelah, Wash.
