Bainbridge Island resident Harriet Amelia Stewart, age 82, died Dec. 12 at Harrison Hospital in Bremerton.
She was born May 27, 1922 in Seward, Alaska, to Monrad and Esther (Gustafson) Mathisen.
She moved to Bainbridge Island in 1930 and graduated from Bainbridge High School in 1941.
She met Enoch “Roy” Stewart while he was stationed in Eagledale with Section 42 during the war. They married in 1948. In 1962 they adopted a daughter, Linda.
Harriet retired from Pacific Northwest Bell after 25 years of service.
She is survived by her husband, Roy, Bainbridge Island; daughter Linda (Mel) Mayberry, Shoreline; sister Margaret Moe, Bainbridge Island; granddaughter Melinda, Shoreline; two nieces, Nancy (John) Irven and their son, Lance, Bainbridge Island, and Lori Hansen and her daughter, Chelsea, Kingston; and two cousins in Colorado.
