Davis Harriet Orr

Harriet Orr Davis, of Bainbridge Island, died on Sept. 19 in Seattle, after a short illness. She was 88.
She was born on Nov. 1, 1920, in Nashville, Tenn. She was raised with a large extended family and attended school in Nashville as well as England. She met and married John Davis, a young naval ensign, in 1946.
After a brief stint in Texas, they moved to Seattle where they raised their three children. Summers spent on Bainbridge Island were a highlight of the family.
Harriet was an avid tennis player, golfer, hiker, bridge enthusiast, writer and astute grammarian. She cherished her large group of friends.
Her last years were divided between Park Shore of Seattle and her Bainbridge Island home. She will be remembered for her adventurous spirit, her sense of humor and bold opinions. Harriet was a member of several book clubs, writing groups, the ASB Orthopedic Guild, National Society of Colonial Dames, Woodbrook Hunt Club, Seattle Garden Club, grammarian societies and several social clubs.
She was preceded in death by husband John, sister Polly Jordan and brother, John Orr. She is survived by children Anne Harrison (Paul) of Pittsford, N.Y.; Carey Hunter Davis (Wilson Abbott) of Vashon Island; John Davis (Kathleen Macferran) of Bainbridge Island; grandchildren Julia, Elizabeth, Ptarmigan, Kachi, Winter, Kayla, Jordan; and several nieces and nephews.
A celebration of her life will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Oct. 19 at Epiphany Parish of Seattle, 1805-38th Ave, Seattle.
