John Irven

John J. Irven, Sr., of Bainbridge Island, died on April 21 at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle. He was 85.
He was born in Montreal, on July 23, 1923 to the late Dr. John J. Irven, a surgeon, and the late Mary Agness Craig. On Aug. 29, 1948 he married Thelma F. Wilcox in Crawford Park, Verdun, Quebec, Canada.
His nearly 30-year career was spent in the pension and health insurance field in Canada and the United States. He was the assistant vice president with Marsh and McLennan of Seattle and later became the owner and broker of the Poulsbo Real Estate.
He served during World War II with the Royal Canadian Air Force, air crew pathfinders.
He is survived by his wife, Thelma, of Bainbridge Island; son John J. (Nancy) Irven, Jr., of Bainbridge Island; daughter Carol Irven (Jose) Iglesias of Locust Grove, Va.; grandson Lance J. Irven of Missoula, Mont., granddaughter Anna Iglesias of Locust Grove; and sister Diane (Bruce) Wadman of Salona Beach, Calif.
