Rick Higley

Former Bainbridge Island resident Rick A. Higley, 35, died June 9 in Seattle.

He was born June 4, 1971, in Ridgecrest, Calif.

After spending his early years in Southern California, he moved to Bainbridge Island in 1978 and graduated from Bainbridge High School.

He worked for many years for Anthony’s Homeport restaurant before changing careers and becoming a private detective, working for International Intelligence Services of Seattle.

He enjoyed all things sports related and was cherished by his family and many friends for his warm, open and light-hearted approach to life and the simple joy of being in his company.

He is survived by his mother, Mary Paul, of Sequim; father Warren Higley of Paulsbo; brother John, sister-in-law Brenda and nephew Scott Higley of Sammamish; and stepfather Kent Paul of Sequim.

Viewing will be 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. June 16 at Evergreen-Washelli Funeral Home, 11111 Aurora Ave. North. Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. June 17 at Port Blakely Cemetery on Bainbridge Island.
