James Joseph Stotts

Longtime Bainbridge Island resident James Joseph Stotts, age 75, died Oct. 7 at the family home on Bainbridge Island after a long battle with cancer.

He was born to Howard and Estelle Stotts on Nov. 29, 1928 in Detroit, Mich.

After graduation from Bainbridge Island High School in 1946, he served in the Coast Guard for three years.

His primary career was with Washington State Ferries from which he retired in 1989.

In 1953 he married his sweetheart, June Woodley, at Holy Family Church in Seattle. Their two children were born on Bainbridge Island.

Survivors include his wife, June, to whom he was married for 51 years; son Paul Stotts, Bainbridge Island; daughter, Frances (Amadeo) Rossi, Issaquah and their three children, Anthony, Matthew and Brian.

A rosary will be said at 10:30 a.m. Oct. 11, with funeral services to follow at 11 a.m. at St. Cecilia Catholic Church. Remembrances may be made to Hospice of Kitsap County, P.O. Box 3416, Silverdale, WA 98383-3416.
