Bainbridge blotter | Boy hit by car

Selected reports from the Bainbridge Island Police Department blotter.

FRIDAY, JAN. 22

6:52 p.m. A 24-year-old Bainbridge Island man in a 2001 Jeep was driving west on Winther Road on his way to deliver a pizza when he looked down at his GPS device and drifted off the road. The Jeep went into a ditch and hit a power pole. A transformer on the pole was damaged.

The driver was not wearing a seat belt and injured his nose; he was transported for medical treatment by an aid unit.

The vehicle, which sustained front-end damage, was impounded and towed. A manager for the pizza shop came and picked up the driver’s money bag.

8:16 p.m. A 66-year-old Bainbridge man in a 2006 Honda Accord was heading north on Highway 305 when he stopped for the signal at Day Road and was struck from behind by a 2015 Ford Fusion, driven by a 65-year-old Clearwater Beach, Florida woman.

She said the crash happened after her foot slipped off the brake pedal and went onto the accelerator pedal and she couldn’t stop in time.

Both vehicles were driven from the scene.

TUESDAY, JAN. 19

8:58 p.m. A 44-year-old Bainbridge woman in a 2006 Honda CR-V SUV was driving on High School Road and entered the roundabout at Madison Avenue when a 49-year-old Bremerton woman in a 2003 Chevy S10 pickup going north on Madison approached the intersection. The Bremerton woman pulled into the roundabout as the Honda neared and collided with the other vehicle. She was cited for failure to stop.
