The ferry M/V Walla Walla will start serving the Bainbridge Island-Seattle route on the 3 p.m. Monday sailing from Seattle, Washington State Ferries has announced.
The Bainbridge route has been down to one ferry since early Monday, when WSF announced the ferry M/V Wenatchee would be pulled from service.
The loss of the Wenatchee prompted the cancellation of multiple sailings Monday, Oct. 17.
WSF initially said the Wenatchee hit debris, possibly logs washed from shore during last weekend’s storm, and had a damaged propeller.
WSF later confirmed the Wenatchee had bent blades on a propeller after striking debris in the water.
The Walla Walla will be shifted from the Bremerton-Seattle route, and the ferry M/V Kittitas will be shift to the Bremerton route after the Walla Walla moves to the Bainbridge run.
WSF is warning travelers on the Bainbridge route to expect delays, as the Walla Walla has a smaller capacity than the Wenatchee and carries roughly 14 fewer vehicles.
