Jean Langston Atwater died peacefully with her daughter at her side, on Saturday, Nov. 20, 2015  at her daughter’s home on Bainbridge Island.

Born in Billings, Montana in 1923 to Earl and Virginia Langston, she was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Dr. Thomas V. V. Atwater Jr.

Mrs. Atwater was a successful artist whose work was widely exhibited, initially in Boston and subsequently throughout the Pacific Northwest. She is survived by her daughter Ann Atwater Lovejoy; sons Tim Atwater (Reah), Sam Atwater (Julie), and Eben Atwater (Monica); her brother James Langston (Ellen) of Fishtail, Montana; sister Lou Fox of Billings, Montana; five grandchildren and a great-grandson.

A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 12 at Eagle Harbor Congregational Church on Bainbridge Island.

In lieu of flowers, remembrance donations may be made to the Bainbridge Public Library, PAWS of Kitsap County and Hospice of Kitsap County.
