BAINBRIDGE –  The Bainbridge Spartans surged past Garfield in varsity girls swimming and diving late last week with dominating performances in the 200-yard medley relay, the 50- and 200-yard freestyle, the 200-yard individual medley and the 100-yard butterfly.

Bainbridge won the meet, 106-63, held at home at the Bainbridge Aquatics Center.

The first race set the tone, as the 200-yard medley relay team of Allison Murphy, Olivia Dow, Amanda Comeau and Ani Duni took first place with a state meet-qualifying time of 1:55.78. (The 3A state championship mark is 1:57.00.)

Bainbridge also took second in the event. The B relay team of Lauren Witty, Melinda Carr, Shea Schardein and Carina Laukaitis finished in 2:01.37.

The Spartans went one, two, three in the 200-yard IM and swept the top three spots.

Murphy was first for Bainbridge (2:16.67), followed by Dow (2:19.91) and Witty (2:20.95).

Bainbridge also took the top three spots in the 50-yard freestyle.

Duni claimed first in 25.75, followed by teammates Comeau (26.10) and Erin Miller (26.91).
