Jette Troest Wyman Hammer

Jette Troest Wyman Hammer passed away in her home on May 24, 2025. She was born on August 14, 1942 during the German occupation of Denmark to Karen and Ebbe Troest, in Copenhagen. Her mother remarried and she immigrated to the United States in 1952 residing in Seattle and later Bellevue. Jette attended the Bush School in Seattle and the University of Arizona studying interior design. She worked as a stewardess for Trans World Airlines, and was stationed in San Francisco before marriage and motherhood. She also served at the Danish Exhibit during the 1962 World’s Fair in Seattle. Jette resided on Bainbridge Island for most of her adult life; first at South Beach, and then in West Port Madison. Jette was the heart and soul of her family spending much of her time caring for the older and younger generations. Jette also enjoyed recreational boating, skiing, listening to music, and spending time with family in the San Juan Islands and Sun Valley, Idaho. She was an equestrian from an early age, later competing successfully in dressage and hunter class. She was a true animal lover and always the favorite of the family pets. Jette is survived by her husband of over 57 years, Ken Hammer, and two sons, Chris (Kristin) and Keith (Dana), four grandchildren: Kyle, Delaney, Erik, and Karina. She was preceded in death by her mother, Karen Troest Wyman, her beloved childhood guardians/her mother’s cousin Ella and Eisel Mathiasen, and stepfather, Max Wyman. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Kitsap Humane Society in her name.
