Spartan swimmers place 3rd at state

Senior Oskar Bannister finished second in two events at state Saturday to lead Bainbridge High School to a third-place finish.

The 3A Boys Swim/Dive Championships were at the King County Aquatic Center in Federal Way Saturday.

Bannister was second in the 50-yard freestyle in 20.88 seconds. Jason Nordgren was 10th and Eamon Greathouse 16th.

A good-sized crowd from BI cheered him on.

Bannister also placed second in the 100-yard freestyle in 45.77 seconds. Nordgren was 12th, Greathouse 13th and Harrison Villella 17th.

BHS was third in the 400-yard freestyle with a time of 3:11.31. On that team were Colin McDevitt, Greathouse, Villella and Bannister.

Bainbridge was fourth in the 200-yard freestyle relay with a clocking of 1:28.41. On that team were Nordgren, Greathouse, Villella and Fin Wenker.

Thomas Witty placed fourth in the 100-yard breaststroke with his time of 58.63. Jason Geddes was 11th.

BI was fifth in the 200-yard medley relay with a time of 1:37.69. On that team were McDevitt, Thomas Witty, Wenker and Bannister.

McDevitt placed seventh in the 100-yard backstroke in 54.57 seconds. Elias Dean was 12th and Aidan Cole 13th.

Witty placed eighth in the 200-yard individual medley in 2 minutes flat. McDevitt was 11th.

Villella was 13th in the 200-yard freestyle and Cole 15th. Henry Sauermann was 14th in diving. Curtis Stewart was 16th in the 100-yard butterfly. Wenker was 20th.
