IVC celebrates 25 years with ‘magic’ fundraiser

The nonprofit Island Volunteer Caregivers “Celebrating 25 Years of Community Magic” fundraiser is June 7-12.
Each day there will be a virtual auction and online surprises. The gala and auction has to be online this year due to COVID-19. The Magic Gala will be June 12. But there also will be live music during the week at Winslow Green, 100 Winslow Way.
IVC relies on community donations to provide its free services.
For 25 years, IVC and its 300 volunteers have connected with older adults and people with disabilities or medical conditions in the community. It provides free services, such as transportation to medical appointments, grocery pickup, life-enrichment activities and companionship. Each summer, IVC’s “Flowers from the Heart” program delivers free bouquets of homegrown flowers to its care receivers. During the COVID-19 pandemic, IVC delivered 300 “Meals from the Heart” during the holidays and helped over 700 people age 70-plus get vaccinated.
Silent auction items may be viewed and bid on at ivcbainbridge.org. Items include: Gardener’s Dream package; Great Getaways (trips to Long Beach, WA and Sun Valley); painting by nationally recognized artist Johnpaul Jones; Golfers Day on the links (round of golf for four, cart and lunch), and tickets/swag to a Seattle Kraken hockey game—its inaugural season.
Also, there is the Giving Tree, the opportunity to provide free life-enrichment activities for IVC care receivers. People can give any amount toward a program or sponsor an entire program. Programs are: Kreaky Knees walking group, Bainbridge Island Museum of Art tours, lunch with a friend, opera package and performing arts.
