Summerfest organizers have opted to buck the buck in favor of a more streamlined Summerfest.

It’s a free concert from now on. A slightly abbreviated Summerfest is scheduled for Saturday, July 29 at Battle Point Park, following the Sounds of Summer concert series. Fear not though, admission to this year’s festivities won’t cost you one red cent.

Event organizers cited a lack of interest by the public for another all-day event as the main reason for the change. The Bainbridge park district has changed Summerfest’s hours to 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. (previously, it was noon to 9 p.m.).

The event will still feature the classic car show, Touch-A-Truck, food booths, beer garden, face painting, balloon clowns and concerts. Community booths will not be present at this year’s Summerfest, however.
