Two special Memorial Day services will take place Monday, May 25.
The public is invited to attend a ceremony at 10:45 a.m. at Bainbridge High School. Legionnaires, Auxiliary and Sons of The American Legion members, local veterans and other guests will meet at the veterans’ memorial at the school. A brief service will be conducted and individual members will decorate the area surrounding the monument with flowers and flags. Guests are encouraged to bring flowers as well.
Immediately following the event, all are invited to join Boy Scout Troop No. 1564 at 7880 NE Bucklin Hill Rd for the main program at 11:20 a.m. An honor guard will raise the flag to half-staff at noon to conclude the day’s activities.
The American Legion Auxiliary Unit No. 172 will provide refreshments following the program. Islanders are also encouraged to display American flags at their homes and businesses to honor those who made the ultimate sacrifice.
This year’s activities are sponsored by Colin Hyde Post No. 172.
