Spartans sail through Hale in boys varsity baseball

BAINBRIDGE –  The Spartans spanked Nathan Hale 14-2 in a mercy rule-shortened fastpitch match-up that went just five innings.

The Raiders may have briefly thought they’d steal one from Bainbridge, and jumped to a 2-0 lead in the first inning, but those dreams were denied in the bottom of the second when the Spartans plated six runs.

BHS continued to pour it on in the third with another seven runs to amass a 13-2 advantage.

Sara Colley (3-0) was the winning pitcher for Bainbridge. She allowed just one hit and finished with five strikeouts.

The Spartan offense was paced by Lauren Vchulek, Megan Spray, Maddie Loverich and Deahna King.

Vchulek went 2-for-2 and had four RBIs.

Spray went 3-for-3 with a double and three RBIs.

Loverich impressed on 2-of-3 batting with two RBIs, and King went 1-for-2 with a double and two RBIs.

The Metro win pushed Bainbridge’s record to 10-6 (10-2 Metro League; 4-2 Mountain Division).
