Garfield falls in fastpitch after never-ending first

SEATTLE – The Bainbridge High varsity baseball team brought home a win from the road Monday, clinching a 4-2 win over Ingraham.

The host school lead initially, 1-0 by the end of the second inning, but BHS came back big in the fourth to even things up 2-all.

Then, it was a Spartan ballgame all day.

BHS brought home two more runs — one each in the fifth and sixth —before holding Ingraham scoreless in the seventh to assure the win.

Three Spartan sluggers saw four at bats each: Blake Swanson, Truman Miller and Duncan McCombs.

Swanson managed one run and two hits, Miller also chipped in one hit and McCombs finished the game with two hits.

Carter Kraus, Jack O’Neill, Brice Kozlosky and David Wellbrock each saw three at bats apiece.

Kraus scored one run, O’Neill two runs and two hits, Kozlosky managed one hit and Wellbrock two hits.

The win advanced the Bainbridge team to a 4-2 overall season record (3-1 in league play) and secured for them the second place spot in the Metro Mountain Division, behind West Seattle (5-3 overall, 2-0 in league play).
