Bainbridge skippers ‘jump’ into first tourney

BAINBRIDGE – The Bainbridge Island Rope Skippers hosted their annual Invitational Tournament earlier this month; it was the first jump rope event of the competitive season.

Five teams competed with representatives from the Seattle area, Abbotsford, British Columbia and Seaside, Oregon.

In the speed and power events, Bainbridge turned in first-place finishes by Bianca Daniels in 30-second speed, along with the Double Dutch teams of Trinity Schou, Marina Correa and Harper Naon in the 11/12-year-old division and Serena Johnson, Claire Dumouchel and Paige Bouma in the 13/14-year-old division in the Double Dutch Power event.

Bainbridge had a second-place finish in the single rope speed relay event by the 11/12-year-old team of Marina Correa, Grace Maher, Imani Maher and Trinity Schou, as well as the 13/14-year-old team of Serena Johnson, Anna Bjur, Paige Bouma and Claire Dumouchel.

Veteran Trinity Schou finished third in 30 second speed, while rookies Alice Kimzey paced third and Camille Zaro finished fifth in their respective age divisions of the event.

Veteran Mia Hale took first in her age division of single rope freestyle, while Leah Brase and Bianca Daniels both took first place in rookie single rope freestyle in their age divisions.

The three-person Double Dutch freestyle team of Mia Hale, Grace Maher and Imani Maher placed first for 11/12 year-olds and Claire Dumoucel, Marina Correa, Trinity Schou managed third-place finishes in the 13/14-year-old division.

Natalie Bennett, Anna Bjur, Serena Johnson also took third in the 15- to 17-year-old division of the same event.

In the four-person Double Dutch freestyle event Marina Correa, Trinity Schou, Harper Naon, Imani Maher placed second for 11/12-year-olds and the team of Natalie Bennett, Paige Bouma, Anna Bjur, Claire Dumouchel placed third for 15- to 17-year-olds.
