CENTRALIA, Washington – The Bainbridge High varsity baseball team made it one game closer than last year to a shot at the state championship.

Alas, it was not to be.

Having defeated Timberline 2-1 in their first playoff game during Memorial Day weekend, the Spartans advanced to Game 2 and faced off against Shorewood High.

The home team was bested 1-0, bringing a disappointing end to an impressive 18-3 regular season.

Shorewood managed to squeeze out one run in the first inning. It was a slim lead they would hold for the rest of the game, as BHS proved unable to surmount an offensive answer.
