Final meeting on combined Bainbridge police and fire facility is next week

The city of Bainbridge Island and the Bainbridge Island Fire Department  will cohost the final in a series of three public outreach meetings on the departments’ future facilities next week.

The meeting is 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, May 14 at Fire Station 21.

City officials said their goal for the project is to understand the condition and limitations of the existing police station, to develop requirements for future facilities, and to identify design concepts for future facilities.

In the final meeting, conceptual designs will be presented based on the operational needs of the fire and police department and the input provided by the community and stakeholders in the previous meetings.

Four different station schemes will be displayed, including: Fire Station 22 as a stand-alone facility, Fire Station 21 as a stand-alone facility, the police station as a stand-alone facility, and a combined fire and police public safety facility.

Mackenzie, the consultant on the project, will provide conclusions and deliver a final report to the city and fire department in late spring or early summer.
