Fourth-graders at The Island School performed the Waka Waka dance as they closed their month-long cultural study of Ghana at The Island School last week.

During the study, students dived into hands-on cultural immersion with community experts, teachers and parents. The study introduced children to the larger community and encouraged them to ask what roles they can play in caring for their world and in becoming respectful world citizens.

Recent studies have featured Spain, Brazil, Japan and Greece.

The Island School, founded in 1977, is an independent school educating students in kindergarten through fifth grade. To learn more, visit http://theislandschool.org.
