The annual celebration of island life returns to the Lynwood Center from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 14. The 2013 “Taste of Lynwood” block party will feature free live music performances, arts and crafts vendors, numerous food and snack options as well as a beer garden.
There will also be a “Kids Zone” with rides, games and music especially for the younger crowd.
Musical guests appearing on the main stage include The Paperboys from 2 p.m. to 4:30 p.m., last year’s crowd-pleasing LeRoy Bell and His Only Friends from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. and a special after party performance at the Treehouse Cafe Stage for the 21-and-over crowd by Massy Ferguson, who have opened for such international acts as Phish and The Grateful Dead.
New to the party this year, at the south end of the block, will be the Taste of Lynwood’s first ever classic car show, with benefits going to support Bainbridge Youth Services.
Parking at the event is free. Also an optional shuttle service from the downtown ferry terminal to Lynwood Center will be making almost constant runs from the ferry to the event and back.
In addition, there are two auxiliary parking locations available, with free shuttle transportation to Lynwood Center.
The first is the American Legion Hall at 7880 NE Bucklin Hill Rd and the second is Blakely Elementary School located at 4704 Blakely Ave. NE. Shuttle service will begin at 10:50 a.m., suggested donation is $1 per person.
The shuttle will run approximately every 30 to 45 minutes until 7:30 p.m.
