Man pleads not guilty on murder charge

Kevin Michael Hardee has pleaded not guilty to second-degree murder.

Hardee, 29, was arrested in June shortly after he allegedly attempted to suffocate his wife with plastic wrap while she was sleeping in their bedroom. After his wife broke free, Bainbridge Police claim he continued trying to suffocate her by using his hands.

Prosecutors allege that he then broke off his attempt, left the bedroom, and waited for police in the kitchen.

Attorney David Allen, Hardee’s lawyer, said that it is too early to determine their strategy in the case.

“We are still investigating,” Allen said. “We are looking at all the witnesses and facts in the case…He’s presumed to be innocent until proven guilty.”

Trial date is Dec. 4.
