Douglas Floyd Elliott

Doug Elliott passed away on July 18. He was born in Rapid City, South Dakota on May 21, 1932.
He received a BS in math at University of Hawaii, a MS in physics at UW. He married Carol Deming in Seattle in 1956. He got a Ph.D electrical engineering at USC. He was employed by Rockwell, now Boeing in Anaheim, CA for 38 years. He is the author of: “FAST TRANSFORMS: Algorithms, Analyses, Applications” and “Handbook of DIGITAL SIGNAL PROCESSING Engineering Applications.”
He was a gifted mathematician. In retirement on Bainbridge Island, he was a fine wood sculptor, and potter. He was a member of the Oat Mealer’s breakfast group as well as a member of Cedars Unitarian where he assisted in Sunday school and was in the men’s groups. He and Carol were members of Bainbridge Book Club and enjoyed many years of traveling in Europe and Asia. He was a loving husband and father, a sweet, gentle, kind and intelligent man. He will be missed.
He is the father of Wendy, Dale and Jennifer, now has five grandchildren and a great grandchild. He is also survived by his brother, Lauriston Elliott. A memorial service will be held for family and close friends at Suquamish Congregational Church, 18732 Division Ave. NE, Suquamish, WA on September 8th at 1:00 pm.
