Friends of the Farms host walking tour

Friends of the Farms will host a walking tour of nine properties at Suyematsu and Bentryn Family Farms on Day Road. The tour is 2 p.m. Sunday, July 15. It will be led by Bart Berg, past president of Friends of the Farms, who will  describe the rich heritage of island farming, current agricultural practices, the internship program as well as future farming initiatives.

Tour organizers said the event is being held at a great time to come out to the farms to see what is growing. The 1½ hour walk will wind through raspberries, vineyards, row crops and greenhouses.
