Doug Haven died peacefully on Dec. 8. He was 88.
Doug was born on Feb. 7, 1921, in Spokane. He was raised in Seattle’s Ravenna area and graduated from Roosevelt High School. After attending the University of Washington, Doug enlisted in the U.S. Army. As a First Lieutenant in the 10th Armor Division, Doug was a shining example of the “greatest generation” participating in the second wave of the liberation of France during World War II.
After the War, Doug began his career in the car business working for Lincoln-Mercury where he met his wife Shirley. They eventually moved to Poulsbo, and together bought and successfully ran Budget Rent-A-Car of Kitsap County.
In retirement, Doug was able to pursue his passions of gardening, hunting and fishing. He was well-known for his ability to fix anything.
Doug is survived by his wife of 42 years, Shirley; son and wife Doug and Jan Haven; daughter Holly Brassington; daughter Shirley Macleod; grandchildren Pam, Kirsten and Robert; great grandchildren Tatum and Logan; sister-in-laws Carmen Steele (John) and Nannette Buren (Lou); nieces Lisa and Michelle; and nephews Josh and Sam.
