Dwayne Saice

Dwayne Saice, of Bainbridge Island, died at home on Sept. 15. He was 64.
He was born on June 14, 1945 in Portland, Ore. He attended Oregon Medical School, Stanford University and UCLA. Dwayne worked as a cardiac perfusionist, and practiced in Fresno, at UCLA hospital and Swedish Hospital in Seattle. While in the medical arena, he obtained a patent for an in-dwelling catheter. After medical retirement, he worked with Genentech (the drug company that cloned human insulin). Afterwards, he started a family-run business, ForeBears, which created and crafted artwork made in the traditional Native American way.
Dwayne was a classic car aficionado, garage sale guru, avid reader of books, aspiring author and playful grandfather. A “B” movie fan, he was a lover of dogs, tinkerer, creator and dreamer. He also was a member of the Knights of Columbus.
Dwayne was preceded in death by parents David G. and Elsie A. Saice. He is survived by wife Cynthia Elisabeth Herrick; children David G. Saice, Raina Saice, Blaine S. Hogg, Brandon E. Hogg, Lara E. Hogg; and grandchildren David S. Saice, Kirah G. Saice and Nolan J. Sisco.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 2 p.m. Oct. 18 at Island Music Center, 10598 Valley Rd.
