Ione “Faye” Holland, 90, died on June 3 at her home on Bainbridge Island.

She was born on April 18, 1919 in Tacoma and had lived on the island for the past 24 years.

She was an artist and gave private lessons to many children, instilling in them her love for painting and the history of art even into her final weeks.

She followed her husband, Kenneth C. Holland, all over the world with the U.S. Air Force, living in communities in France, Italy, Puerto Rico, Utah, Albuquerque, N.M., Sacramento, Calif., and El Paso,Texas.

Faye and Ken were active in their Episcopal church communities, including St. Barnabas Episcopal Church on Bainbridge, where her alto/tenor voice added to the choir.

She is survived by her children, Terry Holland-Meyers (Les Meyers) of Bainbridge Island and Guatemala, Kay (William R.) Clark of Modesto, Calif., and Stephen (Lee-ann) Holland of Bainbridge Island; brother Glenn Stanley of Redmond; and sister Gail Smith of St. Louis. She is also survived by nine grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Christopher Holland, in 1997, and her granddaughter, Susan Nash-Herbert, in 2000.

Family and friends are respectfully invited to attend the memorial service at 4 p.m. June 25 at St. Barnabas. Inurnment will take place at the church garden interium.
