Maxine Dorothy Eastman

Maxine Dorothy Eastman, of Bainbridge Island, died on June 1 at Island Health and Rehabilitation Center. She was 82.
She was born on Aug. 31, 1926 in Pe Ell, Wash.
She was an active member of Rolling Bay Presbyterian Church, as well as PEO. Her greatest joy was playing tennis with Lynne, watching Bob, Jr. and Ron play baseball or football, and then watching and coaching her grandchildren in their sports and activities.
Her sister Lorraine’s children always held a special part in her heart. She loved preparing great meals; getting family and friends together at their home on Battle Point; and gardening – she took great pride in the many beautiful rhododendrons they grew in their gardens. Her life was highlighted with great friends who completed her life as well.
Although the last couple of months were perhaps the most difficult of her life, she often spoke more clearly than she had in years, highlighting with visitors her past activities: bowling and playing bridge with the ladies, hiking, traveling, and life with her husband, Bob and all of their extended family.
She is survived by three children and their families: son Robert L. Eastman Jr., his children Kimberly (John) Morlock and daughter Courtney, and son Robert L. (Luz) Eastman III and son Alec; son Ronald W. (Marsha) Eastman and daughters Heather (Brandon) Mauseth and their children Hayden and Tyson, and Joanna (Aaron) Taylor and her children Dyllion and Aarik; and daughter Lynne (Bim) Prince and their children, Jared and Jordan.
Private family services will be held. An online guest book is at www.cookfamilyfuneralhome.com.
