Glenn Wiprud

Glenn C. Wiprud, of Poulsbo, died on May 28 at Messenger House on Bainbridge Island. He was 78.
He was born on Feb. 18, 1931 in Seattle and had lived in Poulsbo for the past 15 years, having moved there from Redondo Beach, Calif.
He graduated from The University of Washington with two degrees in engineering. He spent eight years in the Navy and was on active duty with the USS Mathews for three of those years. He worked for TRW of Redondo Beach as an executive for over 20 years.
He volunteered with AARP at tax time every year and also volunteered his time with Poulsbo Middle School and Race For the Cure. Glenn enjoyed woodworking and gardening, but his greatest love was his family.
He is survived by his wife of 27 years, Barbara A.B. Wiprud; children Glenn C. Wiprud, Jr., Barbara C. Wiprud Sousa and Valerie L. Wiprud; siblings Jackie Wiprud Martin, Dan (Pat) Wiprud and Frank (Gail Wiprud); and his grandchildren, Katherine and Justin Sousa.
Family and friends are respectfully invited to attend the graveside service, with military honors, at 1 p.m. July 1 at Tahoma National Cemetery in Kent. A reception will follow at the family home in Poulsbo.
