Connie Todd, of Bainbridge Island, died on May 27 at The University of Washington Medical Center in Seattle with her husband and two sons at her side. She was 67.
She was born in Port Gamble to Mary Delle Buitenveld Duclos and Lester O. Duclos on May 2, 1942 and attended elementary and middle school on Bainbridge Island. She received her undergraduate degree from Cal Poly Pomona in California and earned her Masters in Education from Seattle University. In 1962, she married Henry S. Todd; they lived in Covina, Calif., until 1977, when she returned to Bainbridge Island with her family.
Her professional career spanned nearly 35 years as a North Kitsap school teacher, North Mason school counselor and later in private practice, counseling adults on Bainbridge Island. She cherished her family vacations, made the most of her annual “sister trips,” and found comfort in her ritual five-mile daily walk along Crystal Springs.
She loved gardening, journaling and reading and was also an avid cook; her love of life included beach walks with her grandchildren and various travel adventures with her husband, Hank. Her circle of friends in her book club brought joy and laughter over the years. She was a devoted wife, mother, sister and friend.
She is survived by her husband of 46 years, Hank Todd of Bainbridge Island; sons Greg (Susan Veterane) Todd of Edmonds and Steve (Denise Melton) Todd of Bainbridge Island; sisters Leslie (Lee) Graham of Bartlesville, Okla., and Vicki Monahan (Fred Gross) of San Diego; grandchildren Leah and Molly Todd and Gabriel and Andrea Todd; nieces Wendy Machleit, Lisa Graham Despain, Laura Graham Hamilton, Erica Graham Smith, Meagin Scott; and many grand-nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her mother, Mary Delle Duclos; father Lester O. Duclos; stepmother Vera McPoland Duclos; and sister Tanya Machleit.
Family and friends are respectfully invited to attend the memorial service at 2 p.m. June 28 at Eagle Harbor Congregational Church. A reception in the church hall will follow.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center or a charitable organization of your choice. An online guest book is at www.cookfamilyfuneralhome.com.
