Eloise Huntley, a longtime resident of Bainbridge Island, died peacefully March 14. She was 90.

She was born in Seattle on Sept. 11, 1918 to Clark and Cassie Wilson and graduated from West Seattle High School in 1935.

In 1940, she married Jerry Huntley and the family moved to Bainbridge Island in 1946. Except for extensive volunteer work, she was a homemaker.

She was a member of the Amelia Hungerford Orthopedic Guild since 1947 and the Eastern Star since 1959. She worked with the Girl Scouts for 15 years and helped with the annual Rotary Auction and Rummage Sale for over 30 years.

Other community involvements included: serving as a board member of the Bainbridge Island Senior Center; belonging to the Wing Point Country Club; and was a member of the Eagle Harbor Congregational Church.

She also had a “mystery job” for 20 years with the U.S. Coast Guard – turning the fog horn on and off at the Eagle Harbor entrance for the ferry and boat traffic.

After her husband died in 1970, she continued traveling in her camper with a group of friends and later enjoyed trave in Europe and Asia. She also enjoyed painting, gardening and photography.

She is survived by her daughter, Mary Jo Huntley-McCarty of Malibu, Calif.; grandson Rick Gideon; great-grandson, Colin Gideon of Bremerton, and numerous cousins.
