Mary Jane Mong, of Poulsbo, died on Feb. 5 at The Hospice of Kitsap County Care Center in Bremerton. She was 93.

She was born on June 21, 1915 in Edison, Wash. She was married to Harold Mong in 1936, helping on a dairy farm for over 51 years. After raising her family, she earned a nursing degree and worked in the medical field. They moved to Poulsbo in 1987 to be near their children and grandchildren. She volunteered at Martha and Mary Health Care Services and the Fishline House and enjoyed gardening, RV travel, music, knitting and her family.

She was preceded in death by her husband in 2001; her siblings, Ivan Leatherwood and Ruth Doxsee; and her son-in-law, Dan Olsen.

She is survived by her children, Doug (Le Ann) Mong and Mary Beth Olsen; her sister, Ina (Orville) Radel; four grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Family and friends are invited to attend the graveside service at 11 a.m. Feb. 21 at First Lutheran Church Cemetery, 18920 4th Avenue NE in Poulsbo. Memorial contributions can be made to Hospice of Kitsap County.
