Kenneth Dow Stahl

Kenneth Dow Stahl, 87, of Bainbridge Island died Aug. 13 at Martha and Mary Health Services in Poulsbo.

He was born April 12, 1919, in Portland, Maine, to Vertner and Pearl Stahl.

He graduated from Portland Junior College and Boston University.

He served in the U.S. Army in the Pacific Theater from 1942-1946 and in the Army Reserve until 1956.

He married Alice Ross, also of Portland, Maine, on May 23, 1942.

Retiring from the State of New Hampshire as an appraiser, he and his wife moved to Allyn, Wash., where he enjoyed playing golf and working in his yard. He transferred his loyalty from the Boston Red Sox to the Seattle Mariners.

He is survived by his wife, Alice, of Bainbridge Island; daughters, Judy (Tom) O’Hare of Bainbridge Island, and Joanne Chase of Concord, N.H.; grandchildren Shannon (Ken) Homewood of Silverdale, and Kenneth (Sandy) O’Hare of Bainbridge Island; and five great grandchildren.

Service will be at 1:30 p.m. Aug. 23 at Martha and Mary in Poulsbo.
