Margaret Evelyn Fowler

Margaret Evelyn Fowler died Nov. 17 at Messenger House on Bainbridge Island. She was 84.

She was born Jan. 15, 1921 in Auburn, Calif. to Jonas Victor Johnson and Viola Victoria Kaiser. She graduated from Auburn High School and attended Placer Junior College.

She married Ted Fowler in 1942 in Reno, Nev., and they operated a Chevron station in Meadow Vista, Calif., for many years.

She enjoyed music and reading and had a great fondness for cats.

She also enjoyed watercolor and oil painting as a pastime and exhibited some of her artwork at the Wyatt House on Bainbridge Island, where she lived for several years after moving from California to be near her daughter.

She is survived by her children, Victor Fowler of State Line, Nev., and Susan Fowler of Bainbridge Island; three grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. A daughter, Dale, was lost at birth.

Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Nov. 25 at Kass & Cook Family Funeral Home, 163 Wyatt Way on Bainbridge Island. Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Nov. 29 at the New Auburn Cemetery in Auburn, Calif.

Memorial contributions may be made to Kitsap Humane Society or Doctors Without Borders.
