Violet Laure Johnsen

Former Bainbridge Island resident Violet Laure Johnsen, 93, died Aug. 31 at Harrison Hospital in Bremerton.
She was born May 30, 1912 in Athens, Ohio, to Walter and Anna Skinner. She lived on Bainbridge Island for 30 years and most recently lived in Suquamish for the past eight years.
She enjoyed membership in garden clubs and the Children’s Hospital Guild.
She loved to garden and worked with her flowers for hours at her home. She was also an avid photographer and was devoted to her family.
She is survived by her husband, John L. Johnsen, of Suquamish, to whom she was married for 66 years; children Walter Johnsen of Bainbridge Island, John Johnsen of Lacy and Charlotte Middlesworth of Richmond, Ind.; 14 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 9-10 a.m. Sept. 6 at Seabold Methodist Church on Bainbridge Island. A funeral service will follow at 10 a.m. at the church, with interment at Seabold Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Children’s Hosptial Guild.
