Joseph Myers Koch III, 55, of Cumberland Foreside, Maine, died May 20 at his home.
He was born May 12, 1950, in Englewood, N.J., to Joseph M. Koch and Alice McMicken Koch, and raised in Upper Montclair.
When he was 12, the family moved to Bellevue, Wash., and he graduated from Lakeside School in Seattle in 1968. He earned an A.B. degree from Colby College, in Waterville, Maine, in 1972, and an MBA at Washington State University in 1978.
He married Susan Cianchette in 1979 in Maine.
His career began when he became vice president of finance for the Cianbro Corporation. After that he joined Dragon Cement, New England’s only cement company, and served as the company’s chief financial officer before being named president in 1993.
He enjoyed fly fishing with his son, attending his daughter’s many sports activities and gardening.
He is survived by his wife Susan of Cumberland Foreside, and daughter Gretchen and son Alexander; his parents Joseph and Alice Koch, a sister Gretchen Moores-Hooper and her husband John all of Bainbridge Island; a sister Caroline Koch of Priest Lake, Idaho; and aunt Joan McMicken Wilt of Bainbridge Island.
