Margaret Mary James

Margaret Mary “Maggie” James, 86, died May 6 at Island Health and Rehabilitation Center on Bainbridge Island.
She was born Dec. 27, 1918, in Jersey City, N.J., the second of seven children to Edward and Kathryn Power.
She joined Pacific Bell in 1940, in San Francisco, Calif., and later transferred to Seattle where she met and married Stewart “Stu” James in 1958.
After retirement, she volunteered for the Milk Fund, the Bargain Boutique and several other charitable organizations.
She was a member of St. Cecilia Catholic Church on Bainbridge Island.
She was preceded in death by her husband and four brothers, Ed, Jack, Bob and Bill, and sister Zita. She is survived by her sister Rosemary Lind of Worth, Ill., two sisters-in-law and numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. May 12 at St. Cecilia. Private inurnment will be at the Tahoma National Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
