William E. Moser

Former Bainbridge Island resident William E. Moser, 81, died Feb. 1 at his home in Port Orchard.
He was born July 21, 1923, in Warren, Ohio. He graduated from Cortland High School in 1941, enlisted in the Navy for service in World War II and the Korean conflict, then attended the University of Wisconsin to continue his training. He earned the rank of CT2 and received two letters of commendation and an American Area Medal. He was later a member of the U.S. Naval Cryptologic Veterans Association.
He married Annabelle McGarry in Howland, Ohio, on Feb. 7, 1948. They moved to Bainbridge Island in 1957 and spent 47 years in the community, moving to Port Orchard in 2002 to be closer to their family.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Annabelle; daughters Denise (Frank) Raught of Lake Bay and Billie Suzanne Moser of Bremerton; grandchildren Dawn (Phil) Baker of Port Orchard and Bill (Katie) Pickett of Tacoma; great-grandchildren Mark and Casey Baker and Alyssa and Lily Pickett; and sister Dorthea Grinnell and two nephews, all of Ohio. He was preceded in death by granddaughter Annabelle Lee.
