Martin Tonnessen

Poulsbo resident Martin Tonnessen, 83, died Jan. 31.

He was born Feb. 21, 1921, in Denbigh, N.D., to Oscar and Zena (Cornish) Tonnessen.

He married Bonnie D. Burke on Dec. 8, 1961 in Milton, Wash.

He was a pipefitter for area shipyards, including Washington State Ferries.

He is survived by his wife Bonnie D. Tonnessen; sons David Tonnessen of Poulsbo, Steve Tonnessen of Spokane and Donald (Robin) Tonnessen of Tacoma; daughter Sharon (Paul) Utley of Covington; brothers Harry (Virginia) Tonnessen of Milton, Fla., Richard Tonnessen of Kerrville, Texas, and Kenneth Tonnessen of Towner, N.D., Gerald (Margo) Tonnessen of Bainbridge Island; sisters Dorothy (Daniel) Richter of Rugby, N.D., Annabelle (C.L.) Banta of Bremerton and Leona Tonnessen of Deer Park; and six grandchildren.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Feb. 6 at Central Kitsap Presbyterian Church in Bremerton. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Stone Chapel. Donations can be sent to Parkinson’s Disease Association, 1959 N.E. Pacific St., Seattle, WA 98195.
