Charles ‘Charlie’ Laird

Charles “Charlie” Laird died Jan. 10 at his home on Bainbridge Island. 

He was born Feb. 18, 1908, and spent much of his life in Eugene, Ore., where he was in business in the Eugene-Springfield for over 40 years.  Gray’s Seed and Feed,  later called Gray’s Seed and Garden, kept him actively involved until his eighties. 

He and his wife Evelyn moved to Bainbridge in 1991. He was known for his warmth, entertaining stories and sense of humor.

He is survived by his children Tom of Fairborn, Ohio, Charles of Seattle, Michael of San Francisco, Calif., and Anne of Bainbridge Island, and their families. 

He was preceded in death by his wife Mary and his wife Evelyn. 

Family will welcome friends and neighbors to his home at 1 p.m. Jan. 16 for a lunch buffet, reflections and stories.  For directions, call 842-0151.
