Michael Darryl Aguilar

Michael Darryl Aguilar, president of the resident council at Messenger House Care Center, died Jan. 4.  He was 36.

He fought a life-long battle with the effects of spina bifida with courage, optimism and love of others.

He was born in Newport Beach, Calif. on July 21, 1968 and moved to Bainbridge Island in 1994 to be near his family.

He enjoyed sports, particularly baseball, as well as music and animals. 

He is survived by his mother and stepfather, Cynthia and Pat Logan, his father, Henry Aguilar of Pasadena, Calif. and brother and sisters, Henry, Sabrina, Anna and Karen.

A memorial service for family and friends will be held at 1 p.m. today at St. Barnabas Episcopal Church.  Donations can be made to the Spina Bifida Association of America (www.sbaa.org).
