Iona Nevada Francis

Iona Nevada Francis, 87, of Bainbridge Island, died Dec. 15 at Harrison Hospital in Bremerton.

She was born May 3, 1917, in Long Pines, Neb. She married Homer “Dick” Francis in Seattle in 1948.

The couple moved to Bainbridge Island in the early 1950s, and Iona drove a taxi on the island for a period. She was also a homemaker, and enjoyed crafts.

She was a long-time member of Eagle Harbor Congregational Church and the American Legion Auxiliary.

She was also a member of the Bainbridge Island Senior Community Center, and started the thrift shop there.

She was preceded in death by her husband in 2001.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Jan. 9 at Eagle Harbor Congregational Church, with inurnment in Montana. Memorials can be made to the American Legion, 7880 Bucklin Hill Road, Bainbridge Island, WA 98110.
