Martha Kent

Former Bainbridge Island resident Martha Kent, age 78, died Oct. 14 at her daughter’s home on the island.
She was born in Seattle on Oct. 11, 1926 to Seisuke and Nobu Ezaki Tokushima Ken Miwa.
She graduated from high school in Japan and subsequently returned to the United States in 1951.
She married the late Lloyd Max Kent and they had three children. In 1972, when her children had grown, she started working in Spokane School District 81 and retired in 1989.
She moved to Bainbridge Island in 2001. She loved to garden, sew and travel. The garden at her home in Spokane was said to be as beautiful as a park.
She is survived by son Michael Kent and his fiancée Penny Hill, Spokane; daughter and son-in-law Karen and Aaron Geisler, Bainbridge Island; son David Kent, Kent; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Marian and Roy Ota, Spokane and Hannah and John Asahara, Edgewood; one brother, Jack Miwa, Spokane; and two grandchildren Christopher and Kelsi Kent.
Arrangements are under the direction of Kass Funeral Home, Bainbridge Island.
