Anne Holt, 79, died July 23 at her home on Bainbridge Island after a brief illness.
Born Anne Trumbull Corbet in Seattle on July 24, 1925, she was the daughter of prominent Seattle businessman Darrah Corbet and Katherine Trumbull Corbet.
She attended St. Nicholas School in Seattle and earned a bachelor of arts degree from Smith College.
In 1950 she married Seattle attorney Irving Clark, Jr., with whom she had five children. He died in 1978.
In 1986 she married Seattle surgeon Brantley Holt, Jr.
She was a patron of the arts in Seattle and was active in civic and charitable affairs, serving as board president of the Seattle Children’s Home and the Junior League, as well as program director of the downtown YWCA.
Later in life she returned to school to earn an associate’s degree in landscape design from Seattle Community College and became a certified nurseryman.
She had her own landscape design business, Agate Nursery, for many years and was active on the local and national gardening scene.
Her waterfront garden on Bainbridge Island hosted numerous garden tours and was the subject of several national garden magazine articles.
She was a recipient of the national Mrs. Oakleigh Thorne Medal for Garden Design from the Garden Club of America.
She was a founding member of Grace Episcopal Church on Bainbridge Island, as well as a member of the Colonial Dames of America and the Sunset Club.
She is survived by her husband Brantley Holt Jr.; children Corbet Clark of Beaverton, Ore., Lucy Snow of Point Richmond, Calif., Trip Clark of Nevada City, Calif., and Bruce Clark and Tom Clark, both of Seattle; and five grandchildren.
Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. Aug. 14 at Grace Episcopal Church, Bainbridge Island.
Memorial gifts may be made to the church, the Bainbridge Island Land Trust, the Seattle Arboretum Foundation or the Hardy Fern Foundation.
