Dan Boyd

Dan Boyd of Olympus Beach died July 3 at Martha and Mary Nursing Home in Poulsbo. He was 81.

He was born Nov. 6, 1922, in Swords Creek, Va. As a private in the 2nd U.S. Marine Division of the U.S. Armed Forces, he fought and was wounded at Guadalcanal during World War II, for which he received a Purple Heart.

He was married on March 31, 1944, in Columbus, Ohio.

In 1979, he retired as the Assistant Regional Director for the National Labor Relations Board.

He is survived by his wife, Evelyn Boyd of Poulsbo; daughters Karen Boyd of Denver, Colo., and Martha (Jon) Bayley of Bainbridge Island; and grandchildren Reed and Adam Knappe of Bainbridge.

A graveside service will be held at 1:30 p.m. July 24 at the Kane Cemetery, Port Madison, Bainbridge Island.
