Bertha Grotle

Bainbridge native Bertha Grotle, 91, died July 1 in Seattle.
She was born April 28, 1913 on Bainbridge. She served her country in the U.S. Navy during World War II as a nurse, and continued her career as a nurse for the next 50 years.
She is survived by her niece, Karolin Highland, and nephews Ken, Del and Mark Grotle.
Services are 11 a.m. July 8 at Wiggen and Sons Funeral Home, 2003 NW 57th St., Seattle.
Graveside services are 11 a.m. July 9 at Kane Cemetery on Bainbridge Island. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimers Foundation.
